To drill or not to drill . . . shouldn’t be the question

July 17, 2008

Holy sheep dip!  I filled up my wife’s Dodge Magnum at the the pump yesterday and spent $65.  Thank God I work from home full time now.

Oil demand has been climbing faster and faster over the last few years and will continue to do so – but our domestic supply has been mostly stuck at amounts we had in the early to mid-90’s.  Other nations are expanding their supplies but that just makes the US import even a larger percentage of our oil.  We need oil, we need it to come from domestic sources, and we needed it years ago.

So oil bounces around in the $130-145 a barrel range for weeks, US citizens are being hit hard in the wallet which affects our overall economy, and our elected officials in D.C. have the power to do something about it.

So?  What have they done to help out?  Let’s see . . . President Bush just issued a decree undoing past presidential decrees that had blocked drilling off our continental shelf. This is good.  It removed any White House hindrances to more drilling.

Thus, we are left with some past laws originating from Congress.  Since our representatives in Congress are looking out for you and me, you know they’ve been falling all over themselves to remove any blocks to domestic drilling . . . or not.

Once again the Democrat leaders of Congress have decided the tree, squid, coral, and carabou-huggers are correct – the animals and plants are more important than you. No wonder this Democrat-controlled Congress has the lowest approval rating of any Congress in US history.  Last week’s Congressional approval ratings hit a record low of 8%.  Yep, single digits.  Geeeeeee . . . I wonder why???

Nancy Pelosi and her ilk are traitors to their fellow citizens and has repeatedly failed to uphold her oath.  Californians, please vote her out asap.
